Valencia Hirmiz, DNP | Nurse Practitioner
My name is Valencia, I also go by ‘Val’. I was raised in the vibrant city of Detroit, an experience like no other. The energy, diversity, and culture that permeated the streets and neighborhoods shaped me into the person I am today. Since a young age, I’ve always had a strong inclination towards a career in the medical field. The gratification of knowing that my efforts could make a real difference in the lives of others was a driving force behind my interest in the field.
I am an incredibly proud alumni of the University of Michigan (Go Blue!), where I earned my doctoral degree, but I wouldn’t be where I am today had it not been for my parents. Part of a small Catholic minority from the country of Iraq, my parents immigrated to the United States in hopes of creating a brighter future for themselves and our family. The decision to leave everything behind and migrate to a foreign country is a bold one, and requires a great deal of courage and determination. Their unwavering love and support also served as a beacon of guidance throughout my journey.
